Jarome Iginla was the first black captain in hockey!
Jarome played 3 years in the western hockey league before he was drafted. He played for the Kamloops Blazers from 1993-1996. With them jarome played 183 games, scored 102 goals, got 134 assists, got 236 points total, and 264 penalties in minutes.
Jarome made his NHL debut in the 1996 Stanley cup playoffs. He played with the Calgary flames in their series against the Chicago Blackhacks.He was the first flame to play at the age of 18 since Dan Quinn in 1983. In his first game he assited on Theoren Fleury to record his first point. The very next game he scored his first goal.
