ONLINE!!!
Being online is not all fun and game there are some DANGERS!!! Most teenagers at around the age of 14-16 are the ones that mostly chat online and suprisely engough their the ones who are mostly clueless about danger and the risk of chatting online unsafely. They also don’t know how to protect themselves probably.
The Danger!!!! It's an unfortunate but true fact. The Internet is quickly becoming a powerful tool for criminals to attack and exploit teens that includes you. One technique sexual predators use is to pretend to be an interested friend in chat rooms until they develop a relationship with you. Then the predator requests personal information such as your phone number and address. The results are often too scary to imagine.
Be careful with who you trust online and remember that friends online are just strangers. People online, no matter how long you have been talking to them or how friendly they are, may not be who they say to you Meeting someone you have only been in touch with online is dangerous. If you feel that you ‘have to’ meet, then you must tell your parent or carer to take you – at least on the first visit – and make sure you meet in a public place in the daytime. Stay in charge in chat. Keep your personal information secret when chatting online (name, address, telephone number, mobile number, private email address, picture), even if people ask for this. Although you may want to reveal more than you normally would in online friendships, giving out personal information can make you weak Check your profile and make sure it doesn’t include any personal information (, address, telephone number, mobile number, private email address, ). Get away from wierd situation in chat rooms by logging out (this just takes one click) or by changing your screen name.
Think before you answer private messages. It can be harder to end a conversation in a private chat than in a public chat. A private chat may end up being more personal than you like. Use a nickname, not your real name, and a nickname that is not going to attract the wrong type of attention. Look out for your friends and do something if you think that they are at risk. Tell your parent or career if someone or something makes you feel uncomfortable or worried. Learn how to keep/save a copy of the conversation in chat – this may be useful if you want to report something. Learn how to block/ignore people.

CHAT ROOM SICKOExclusive: Net Nightmare Every Parent Fears The story starts like this:Little Chloe Michaels was only 11 years old when he met her. But that didn't matter to sick Glen Parker. After months exchanging messages in an Internet chat room he was finally going to have his evil way.Chloe first started going into Internet chat rooms after her mother Cathy, a teacher, bought a computer to help with her homework. Each evening when she'd finished her schoolwork she would then log on to chat. The chat ended like this:After it was all over he dumped her, terrified, distraught…and pregnant…Of course the mother was devastated. You think mom, being a teacher, would have been watching her 11 year old a little better. Later in the news story:Cathy says: "It's every parent's nightmare. The Internet is totally banned in this house now. If parents have got the Internet they should be standing behind their child to find out exactly what they are looking at. Banning the Internet completely is a little extreme and it would be nice if parents could stand behind their child every minute they are on the computer but that isn't always possible. So what is a parent to do?
