The pearls hidden, the sparkle abundant The games we played when I left The hide and seek of tears No winners, the players so deft Because I know you hid those dewdrops Just so to make me strong And so did I; It was mutual What's this between us Mom? "Miss" is a paper-tiger and "love" a twice-told tale Were lexicons and languages that mighty A feeling greater I'd have had In Chanel no 5s and Nana DeBarys, where's the smell of your skin? Where, of your hair The food you cook Where that scent un-bottled of your kindness and care? Where the smoothness of your voice That oozes out selflessly The feeling undefined Never failing, flawlessly Oceans, plains and mountains between us Now we are thousand of leagues apart And laugh yet at these distances, do we? No distances too many for the heart Even then let me try and express "I seriously miss you, Maa" All the same what keeps me going, realize it or not Is you, you, you, Mumma Look, I'm leaving for work Maa Kiss me on the cheek, come , run Give me that look unfading Of love-filled fear and concern Oh but you're not here Endurance this is, I know For me, yes, for my good, for my own happiness You curb yours and let me go Why do you never ask for anything Maa? Why always do you give? When for yourself will you? It's for me that you live Then with tears plenary, to God I ask, "Give Maa whatever she wants" The next I know my tears vanish, joy surrounds, sorrows grow weak "Wish granted". Oh, that's what Mummy wants
Maa
