The Crucible
The Crucible was a book based on betrayal. A couple of local girls were accused of witchcraft in Salem, and instead of fessing up and taking the blame, one of the girls began a lie. Abigail accused others of witchcraft in an attempt to save herself. When one of the girls tried to admit they were lying, Abigail turned on her as well and accused her of sending her spirit out to harm them all. Abigail lied, accused others of her own crimes, and ultimately destroyed the town of Salem because of all the hangings of innocent people. Not only did Abigail betray herself, she betrayed her friends and an entire town.
