Do YOU understand the US Constitution?
OUR FOUNDING FATHERS What do you see when you're asked to picture the day our founding fathers signed the constitution? Do you see some 'old farts' settled around a table with whiskey and hot cocoa, with a feather quill pen? Or do you see it for how it truly was? A group of proud, mostly wealthy, experienced in military men, who were all willing to sign away their lives for their children's children's future. Who all must have been scared for their own lives, along for their loved ones', but still signed. Who knew they would quite possibly die, yet still signed. This constitution, the future of this country, the manufacturing of this country was so important to them that most gave their lives for it. These men together, knew what it would take to create a successful country- based on good morals. They used their knowledge and experience with military, the courts, money, etc., to create this magnificent document. This magnificent document that keeps the Founding Fathers' future generations in check - the future generation that forgets the importance of such a document.
DID YOU KNOW...?! Even though not actually written in the constitution, it contains powers that are implied through other laws that Congress can pass as long as they follow the constitution! This is also known as the Elastic Clause. The Legislative branch has the most extensive powers and the Judicial is the most vaguely described! ********************** AND... Some conclusions for this project: The legislative branch probably has the most power, because they ultimately hold power to make and change laws. The president has to refer to them so for many matters of business. The judicial branch has the power to enforce laws - only as long as they follow the regulations of congress. The founding fathers most likely put the branches from greatest to least power, for us to be aware which were most important, legislative first and judicial last. Because legislative has more people, so it better represents The People's true feelings. Article 7 allow states to think that they are equal with the federal government because the states, as a whole, make up the nation, and we approved the Constitution.
