ATVANTAGE: Lower levels of governemnt can become the focus of political dissatisfaction. Delegation of power to local sphere-- brings governemnt closer to the people.
WHY FOUNDING FATHERS.. FEDERALISM WAS A REACTION TO THE FAILED CONFEDERATION: Federalism allows the central government to distribute power to local powers in such a way that the public dissatisfaction is directed towards the local governemnt as opposed to the central government. Federalism is practical geographically. It would be impossible for all political authority to reside in one physical location. Federalism allows for direct access to governement agencies and policies by people. It is based on popular sovereignty and allows people to have an influence upon the government.
