Barack Hussein Obama was born on August 4, 1961 to two students in Hawaii. His father was from Kenya and his mother from Kansas. He moved to Jakarta, Indonesia, when he was six. He attended university at Occidental College, Columbia University, and Harvard School of Law. Obama has served as a community organizer in Chicago, and three terms in the Illinois senate (1997-2004). He was elected to the Senate in 2004 after a failed campaign for House of Representatives in 2000. Obama resigned from the Senate after being elected as president in November 2008. He is a member of the democratic party.
As Chief of State, Obama becomes a symbol of national unity. As the first African American president, embodies the effectiveness of the United States' civil rights movement. He also relates to the U.S.'s citizens in a non-political way. As a great fan of basketball, Obama visited injured soldiers and held freindly, non-political conversations with them about the sport.
As chief executive, Obama gets to issue executive orders. Obama has several of G. W. Bush's executive orders through ones of his own, including ones that facilitate openness in government and union organizing, as well as one which bans torture and conduct not outlined in the military field manual. He has also issued executive orders which protect national parks from oil and gas drilling.
As Commander in Chief, Obama makes key military decisions. His military decisions include lowering troop levels in Iraq and focusing more on efforts in Afghanistan. In this picture, U.S. troops stationed in Baghdad show Obama their loyalty.
As Chief Diplomat, Obama must meet with leaders from other countries and form relationships with them, as he is doing with French President Nicolas Sarkozy in this photograph. They have been discussing the matter of Iran. Unlike the previous president, who called Iran names like "evil", Obama has opened doors of negotiation to Iran.
As Chief Legislator, Obama gets to recommend bills to Congress and sign or veto the bills which congress passes. Here he is speaking passionately about the health care bill, which he signed on March 23, 2010.
Chief of State Commander in Chief Chief Legislator Chief Diplomat Chief Executive Chief of State, closely followed by Commander in Chief, are historically important because they are directly related to the very first U.S. president: George Washington. Washington was was a great general, which earned him his position as president, which lead to his success as Chief of State, due to his popularity. Chief of State, historically, is the most important role of the president, because a president can dictate the climate of the country as well as how other countries perceive the U.S. During the Bush administration, Chief of State's importance as a roll was demonstrated by his declining approval rating. Because of his syntax and decisions, many U.S. citizens failed to respect him.

Chief Diplomat Chief Legislator Chief of State Chief Executive Commander in Chief Obama's role as Chief Diplomat is most important. Obama must attempt to remedy deep diplomatic divisions created by the Bush administration, including calling fellow nuclear-weapon possessing countries an "axis of evil", and allowing neoconservative policies to prompt war in Iraq. Other countries find Obama refreshing after Bush, who took much less care to learn proper etiquette and culture of foreign countries. The Obama administration may lead to a healthier form of globalization, if perhaps it can turn less attention of the U.S. government on securing oil for itself and more on actual peace and cooperation. Obama has already been recognized for his policies towards other countries with the Nobel Peace Prize, and hopefully will deliver according to the expectations of peace making it implies.
