'Muslims follow the religion of Islam. As part of their religion they believe Allah to be their Creator, God and sustainer. Allah revealed the Quran (Islamic religion’s holy and noble book) and in it Allah has provided the commandments to all human beings to believe in only one creator (Allah), provided the guidance to live ones life, the concept of life and death, punishment and rewards after death in the next life, and many other such commandments. Since the creation of the heavens and the earth, Allah has revealed his message to prophets and messengers. Some of the prophets included Jesus (son of Mary), Jacob, Joseph and Muhammad. Allah revealed his message on his prophets and messengers in the form of scriptures and holy books. These books include Bible, Torah and the Quran. Overtime, Allah’s message was changed by the people for various reasons. Allah sent Muhammad (saws) as the last prophet and revealed his last book, the Quran (also referred to as Koran) on Muhammad. The Quran has remained unchanged since its revelation more than 1500 years ago as Allah has promised that it would be free from any human changes until the day of judgment..'

Shahadah or the worship of one God only. Salah or prayer, at least five times a day. Zakat, or donation of alms. Sawm, or fasting during Ramadan. Haj, the pilgrimage to the Holy City of Mecca
Ramadan is considered one of the most sacred and important of Muslim holy times or events. As the ninth month of the Islamic year, the name Ramadan comes from the Arabic words for dry, scorched land and scarcity of rations. The early Muslims took this as a sign to look inside themselves and concentare on the health of there spirituality instead of on things like food. This month-long fasting and praying ritual, which begins at the first new moon of the ninth month of the year, is practiced by hundreds of millions of Muslims throughout the world, and it is one of the five pillars, or main beliefs, of Islam. Everyday during the month of Ramadan, every person over the age of 12 is expected to fast from dawn until sunset. The translation in Arabic means 'to refrain' or 'to fast'. Muslims take this in the literal sense and they not only refrain themselves from eating and drinking, but they also refrian from speaking unless needed and other such activities. The main purpose of the Ramadan is to purfify your spirituality. Most Muslims pray more often during the Ramadan and they take the time to spiritually cleanse there system. They ask for forgiveness of past sins, focus on positive acts for the benefit of others, and ask Allah for guidance. Fasting is supposed to bring out feelings of sympathy for the less fortunate and to give people a feeling of inner peace. Ramadan is also a time to strengthen bonds, and people often invite friends and family to share in the sunset fast-breaking meal, the Iftar. Sharing in the fast as well as the meal following strengthens a community's unification and bonds to each other. On the 27th day of the Ramadan, Muslims celebrate the Laylat al Qadr, or the day in which Mohammed is believed to have received the Quran from Allah. It is also considered the day in which Allah determined the course that the world would take in the years to folow. The end of Ramadan occurs when the new moon is sighted, and a feast marking the end of the fast called Eid-ul Fitr is celebrated after a morning prayer. People visit with friends and family, and often take time off of work. If a person has fasted as required and acheived a ' spiritual renewal' during Ramadan it is supposed to be a good sign for a good life for the next year.

Muslim women are most commonly believed to have to wear clothes that covers every part of there body except for there face and hands. Some muslims believe that they have to cover there face also except for there eyes. Ther is also a belief called mahram men and non-mahram men. Mahram men are include husbands, brothers, fathers, father-in-laws, sons, and certain other close friends. Around these such mahram men muslim women don't have to follow the usual teaching of covering up from head to toe. In front of non-mahram men however this is when musli women are required to be covered from head to toe.
Muslim women also wear Jilbabs which are dresses that go over regular clothes and are much like abayas. Jilbab means 'someone that covers. Islamic women also wear hijabs which are headcovers that cover the face and hair. Muslim women are not alod to show any body hair, that is what the hijab is for. Recently though manufacturers are making hijabs fashionable and colorful.
Abayas are robe like dresses that Muslim women wear over there clothing. The purpose of an abaya is to hide all body attributes such as beauty except from those that are aloud to see. Abayas are worn in public only or in the presence of non-mahram men. Abayas aremost commonly worn in black, but in some muslim countries they are white. Recenly people are also making colored abayas so that women don't feel so plain.
On the contrary Islamic men are not required to cover up so thouroghly. They also do not have ruls like non-mahram and mahram.
Muslims eat just like they do most activates, as an act of worship to Allah. According to the Islmaic religion every act is a form of worship if it done according to the way of Allah. In Islam there are two types of food Halal and Haram. Halal, which means lawful or permitted, this refers to all things that are aloud in the Islamic religion including food. The other type of food is Haram. Haram arte the foods that are prohibited, this also refers to all aspects of life not just food. The most common Haram foods are pork, alcohol, products made from animal fact, especially margarines, also breads and bread products. Gelatine is also Haram but, some gelatines can also be Halal. Also caffeinated drinks like coffee are considered Haram. Some examples of Halal foods are fruit, vegetables, grains, fish, honey, nuts, milk (without fortified vitamins) from cows, goats, camels and sheep. Meats from animals such as cattle, calves, sheep, goat, camel, deer and poultry are also considered Halal if slaughtered the according to the law.
Finally some Muslim women wear garments called Niqabs. These garments allow women to cover there faces in the presence of non-mahram men. Muslim women are required to wear many clothes by there religion, nearly double the amount of clothes that men are required to wear and yet they do this without complaint because Islam is the religion that they choose and thatthey live by.
