3/4 cup pumpkin 2 tablespoons molasses 3/4 cup white sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 1/2 tablespoons flour 2 eggs, separated milk combined with 1 can of evaporated milk 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger 2 tablespoons Myers rum Pie shell whipped cream(if you want on your pie)
We get whipped cream by mixing air into 30% fattened cream. After you mix the air into the cream it has by then dubbled in size with air bubbles.
You get evaporated milk by exposing it to high heat to evaporate that water out of it. They usually evaporate 60% of the water out of the milk. The difference between evaporated milk and condensed milk is that condensed milk has sugar added to it for a sweeter milk.
There are two different types of molasses sugar beat molasses and cane molasses. In the cane molasses category there are three different types of molasses, first molasses, second molasses and blackstrap molasses. Cane molasses is made by extracting the sugar cane juice, mashing it and then boiling the juice. The juice is boiled once for first molasses, twice for second molasses and three times for blackstrap molasses. Molasses came from the Latin word melaceres meaning honey-like.
The word pumpkin came from the Greek word Pepon meaning large melon. The word pepon was turned onto pompon by the french. The english turned pompon into pumpion. The american colinists turned pumpion into pumpkin.
