refrain- part of a song or poetry that repeats in different sections of the song or poetry meter- a measured arrangement in poetry

blank verse- an unrhymed verse connotation- a word that makes you feel a mood such as happy or sad irony - I way of using words to imply a different or opposite meaning denotation - another word for something such as gloomy is to sad
free verse- verses that don't have a real pattern or rhyme rhyme scheme- the arrangement of rhymes in poetry
poetry- a way of putting words together to express yourself tone- a pitch or voice used when speaking to express something mood- something you are feeling like happy or sad speaker- A person that reads poetry
metaphor- figure of speech imagery- putting words together to create an image or thought in your head personification- figure of speech that has something out of the ordinary happen such as talking animals alliteration- repeating of a sound for rhythmic effect
stanza- a section of a couple of lines, kind of like a paragraph in poetry
