Important information-In the autumn of 1711 a terrible Indian massacre took place in North Carolina. Hundreds of settlers fell victims of the merciless tomahawk. The chief sufferers were the inoffensive Germans at New Berne, where one hundred and thirty people were slaughtered within two hours after the signal for the massacre was given. Various tribes, led by the Tuscaroras, engaged in the massacre. But the people rallied, and, receiving aid from South Carolina, they, led by Colonels John Barnwell and James Moore, hunted the red men from place to place and in a great battle near the Neuse destroyed four hundred of their warriors
The Soutern Colonies
Religion: Religion in the colony was as usual most being Catholics, some Puritans, and although not a lot but some also being Quakers.
Economy: Exports from Maryland were flax, grams, corn, tobacco, fruit, vegetables, fish, iron, lumber, clay, bricks, and beaver. There imports were clothing, furniture, tools, silver, books, some foodstuffs, leather goods, sugar, molasses, weapons, and slaves.
Important Information: Manufacturing was a big, major building, ships, iron works, and agriculture. Agriculture meaning growing crops and sending them to Britain for food and the triangular trade they participated in.
Government: The Calvert family was given Maryland as a reward for their loyalty to the monarchy. The head proprietor had total control of the colony with one big loophole. All the free men in Maryland had to agree with his decisions. For awhile there was religious freedom called the Toleration Act (1649) because there were large numbers of both Catholics and Protestants in Maryland.

Resources: Indigo, tobacco, rice, and corn were their resources and don't forget about the wood.
Economy: They, like all other colonies, bought food and tools for them to live the supplies were bought from Britain.
Important Information -In 1622 there was an Indian massacre. The friendly chief Powhatan was dead, and his brother Opekankano now reigned instead. The tribe was commanded by Opekankano to get rid of the settlers. 347 Settlers were killed. In 1644 the same chief commanded to get rid of the settlers again, over 200 settlers died. Bacon’s rebellion was formed and occurred in 1676. Bacon’s rebellion was when mostly farmers wanted more protection from the Indians. Nathanial Bacon lead a group of 500 men to attack the governor so they could get their protection.
Government- The house of Burgess's met for the first time in Virginia in 1619. There were 20 delegates on the committee. The 20 delegates on the committee made new laws. Then in 1624 they became a royal colony. In 1642 Common wealth said they could have more of self-governing
Virginia
Religion- In 1776 the “Great Awakening” happened. The Great Awakening was that everybody should be able to worship in their own religion as they pleased.
Resources- Wood, tobacco, corn, and soil. Day to day lives- Girls were expected to cook and sew. Boys were expected to hunt and build.
Georgia
Important information- They established the colony to set up a barrier between the colonies and the Spaniards. In 1742 Spaniards planed to attack the colony, but Oglethorpe was skillful and drove the enemy away.
Resources- They grew Indigo, rice, and Tobacco. And exported trees for Britain.
Government: They like many of the southern colonies were apart of the Royal group which means that the king picked their Governor.
Resources- The resources they had included rice, indigo, lumber, and sugar.
Economy- Georgia was the only 1 out of the thirteen colonies who received financial aid by a vote of Parliament. Plus purchasing slaves which soon later in the years were prohibited.
Slavery was devestating and badly it happened a lot in the Southern Colonies.
Religion- They were allowed to worship their own religion. Which most were the religion of the Catholics.
North Carolina
Economy- They made it and were able to import things, because of the slaves. The triangular trade. Slaves had a hard life, abuse, depression, fearfulness, and very little to eat and drink. Of all the thirteen colonies, North Carolina was the least commercial, the most provincial, the farthest removed from European influences, and its wild forest life the most unrestrained.
Religion- Had mainly Protestants and very little Catholics in North Carolina.
Government-Self-government was one of the earliest forms of governing. In 1729 North Carolina became a royal colony. The governor was of course picked by the King.
