Women of the American Revolution and What They Did To Help
Women's lives began to change with the American Revolution. Every war means more women taking charge during the absence and after the deaths of husbands and fathers. They would also care for the wounded, and repair uniforms, and they also brought water to the soldiers and etc. After the war, talk of rights raised issues of women's rights and education. Most women disguised themselves as men.
There was this lady and her name was Deborah Samson and named herself Robert Shirtilife. The reason she named herself as a guy, so that she would pass as a guy for the war. For three years she helped in a lot of things and was hurt two times. The first time she got cut on her head by a sword when she was fighting and then later she was shot through the shoulder. Her sexuality was never found then a little later on they found out that she was a women when she had brain fever, and they told George Washington, and he kept a secret too, but a few days later, they told her that needed to recieve better care.

In 1774 Martha Washington couldn't choose a side between friends who were loyalist and friends who wanted to fight for their rights. In 1776 Betsy Ross made the American flag after a discussion with George Washington, George Ross and Robert Morris. .

Women were dressed as men because they wanted to help fight in the battles.. They didn't want the men to do it all by themselves, so they diguised them as men (which means to chop off your hair, wear your father's or husband's clothes that he left at the house and wear them). What most of the women did was help load the cannons, care for the wounded soldiers, bring water and food to them, and etc.
