The Legend Of Buddy Bush... By Shelia P. Moses..
In the Legend of Buddy Bush, the story takes place in the Reboeth, North Carolina in the 1940's. Pattie Mae, is the main character of the story, is a young 11 year old girl living with her grandparents and mother in the south.
When Pattie's uncle Buddy arrives in town, things immediately shake up. When he is accused of raping a white woman, he is taken to jail and there is a possibility of being hanged. Pattie's family thinks the worse as the days pass by.
Uncle Buddy is forced to work in the field right across from Pattie's grandparents property. Everyday Pattie's family watches Buddy work until the sun goes down. The family then discovers that Buddy has a lady friend named Miss Nora.
When Uncle Buddy's trial finally arrives, the family sits in the courtroom as the court begins to fill with many white people. Many people lie and testify against Buddy claiming that he attempted to rape the white woman.
After a long deliberation in the courtroom, the jury and the judge decided that Uncle Buddy couldn't be released from custody. The night of the courtcase, Pattie's Uncle Buddy is taken by the KKK. Fortunately, he escapes with precision and ease.
The next morning, the officers still continue to search for Buddy. Unfourtunately, Pattie's grandfather passed away shortly afterwards. In conclusion, a month passed and Pattie recieved a letter from Uncle Buddy's lady friend, Miss Nora. In the letter, she wrote that Uncle Buddy did escape and he lives in Harlem.
When Pattie arrives in Harlem to live with her older brother and sister, Pattie finally runs into her Uncle Buddy. He is safe and he is happy with his new life.
