Journey on the Silk Road
The silk road routes linked East, South, Western Asia and the Mediterranean together. It was important because it provided materials to various cities. These goods were what merchants used to make a living.
Inventory list : Silk was one of the major trading goods. Animals (Horse, elephant,peakcock,sheep) Foods (pomegranates, carrots, safflowers) Agricultural & metallurgical technology) Jewlery (Ivory, Gold, Bronze)
The Silk Road impacted the cities in Asia, Africa, and Europe by inroducing technologies, art, religon, and culture.
There were three major routes: Northern Route- Westard from China to the Black Sea. Central Route- To Persia and Medirerranean S ea. Southern Route- To Afghanistan, Iran, and India.
German geographer Ferdinand von Richthofen in 1877 named the route Silk Road.

Marco Polo and his brothers came across a war while travelling along the Silk Road.
Many travlers had to undergo bad weather while trading on the routes.
Bubonic Plaque horror was also founded on the Silk Road.
