George H. W. Bush
Bush ran for president in 1987. His challengers for the Republican presidential nomination included US Senator Bob Dole of Kansas, US Representative Jack Kemp of New York, former Governor Pete DuPont of Delaware, and conservative Christian televangelist Pat Robertson. At the end he took a 54.3 percent of the ballot casts. Bush was inaugurated on January 20, 1989, succeeding Ronald Reagan His vice president was Dan Quayle. He entered office at a period of change in the world; the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of Soviet Union came early in his presidency. So when he was president in the begining, times were hard.
George Bush was born in Milton, Massachusetts, on July 12,1924 and his birth name was George Herbert Walker Bush. His parents were Prescott Sheldon Bush (Dad) and Dorothy Walker Bush (Mom). He grew up with 2 brothers and 2 sisters. The two boys were Prescott SheldonBush Jr. and William Henry Trotter Bush. The girls were Barbara Pierce and Nancy Walker Bush. The Bush family moved from Milton to Greenwich, Connecticut shortly after his birth. They needed to get away from the country life so he can persue his intrest in politics.
