16th Street Babtist Church Boming
September 15, 1963 in Birmingham, Alabama
'If you're going to blame anyone for getting those children killed in Birmingham, it's your Supreme Court.' - Birmingham police commissioner Bull Connor
This was one of the few times white men were actualy convicted for killing african americans during the civil rights movement. Most times no matter what evidence was found white men were usualy found not guilty. rather quickly. not only was a white man convicted during the civil rights movement but 2 more were later convicted.
If the 16th street babtist church wasnt bombed the civil rights movement might not have been the same. The bombing increased the support of people working for civil rights It marked a turning point in the U.S. civil-rights movement of the mid-twentieth century and contributed to support for passage of civil rights legislation in 1964.
