Lamborghini Automobili was established in Italy in 1963 by Ferruccio Lamborghini, a wealthy tractor company owner. The company was sold in 1981 to brothers Jean-Claude and Patrick Mimran. Chrysler Corporation purchased Lamborghini in 1987 and turned over ownership in 1994 to a group of Indonesian investors, who in turn sold to Audi Corporation in 1998.
