Black History Month

"...I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live to the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be selfevident: that all men are created equal." I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners, will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. I have a dream today........."

Martin Luther king gave a big speech about what he thought about slavery, how he wanted to change it. He was born January 15, 1929 April 4, 1968 at the age of 39.

Rosa Parks sat in the front of a bus and refused to move when asked by a white man and was sent to prison. She was born February 4, 1913. she died October 24, 2005at the age of 92.

Malcom X he took 4,000 black men out of prison. He was born May 19, 1925 he died February 21, 1965 at the age of 39.

This, the month of February, is Black History Month. This is the month that helped change slavery. This month was the month that African American's risked there lives to end slavery.
