A Rose Encased in Glass
They were high school sweet hearts. Usually you wouldn't find one without the other. They were together all through High School, but they both had high hope for two different jobs. The man wanted to be a crime scene investigator, while the woman wanted to be a writer. They both tried to get into the same college, but they couldn't find a college that had the classes they needed to acheive their goal. Eventually the couple found two different colleges. They were both very upset. The woman was afraid that the man would cheat on her. The man knew her fears, though. They never had secrets hidden from eachother. The man knelt down on one knee. The woman thought he would propose. He held a tiny rectangle box. He didn't open it though. He told her that the relationship couldn't go on, considering how far away they were going to be. She started to cry. The man calmed her down. He opened up the tiny box that he'd showed her. In the box was a rose, but not just any rose. The rose was blood red, but the thing that made it unique was that it was encase in glass. The man kissed her upon the lips, lightly. He told her, As long as this rose lives our love shall be forever. She cried tears of happiness. Finally, the next school year came and they had started a new year at two different colleges. In her dorm the rose was displayed proudly on the wall. She never took it down. If she moved dorms she would take the rose, and put it yp in her new room. If she moved out of her dorm to a house, she displayed it on the living room wall. If anyone asked what it was she would tell them it was from her love and would say nothing more. Finally, the end of college came! She moved to New York, and had a happy life, she was a sucsessful writer. She published many books, and one even hit the best seller list! One day she decided that she would visit the man. She knew he lived in California, so she called and made a bunch of reservations at hotels and restaurants. She searched his name and figured out he was a cop for Los Angles. She figured out his address, and flew out to L.A. She was so excited! She grabbed a taxi and went to his house. She knocked, but no one answered. She figured he was still at work. She called down another taxi and heade to the police station. He wasn't there either. The police cheif asked if he could help her. When she asked for him the police cheif grimaced. ''I'm sorry ma'am'' he said ''Investigator Crawford didn't make it back from a hostage situation a few months ago.'' She ran out of thebuliding and cried. She ran to cemetary. She immediatly found his grave stone. On top of it was a letter. The letter had a name on it. ''Janice'' It was her name. She opened the letter and it said. I am sorry my dear, i wait for you in eternity. She dropped the letter. In her purse she grabbed out a pocket knife she used only for defence. Shesta down next to his grave. She cut her wrist and mumbled ''In eternity my darling,'' and slipped into eternal sleep buried next to her true love. Between them lay a rose encased in glass, the plaque below it said this : ''As Long As This Rose lives, Our Love Shall Be Forever,''.
