-Nearly 4 billion trees worldwide are cut down each year for paper. -The US is by far and away, the worlds largest paper consumer. -Sam Martin, Ecology.com
Tips for Alternatives 1. Use document scanners to convert paper to electronic documents. Shred the paper and then send it to be recycled. 2. Do not print or copy documents unless absolutely required. Try and send through email or electronic fax 3. If printing is necessary, be sure to grammar and spell check to eliminate reprinting. 4. Use Web 2.0 Technologies such as blogs or wikis for communication and collaboration. 5. Try and send home fliers/information via email if possible, at least limiting your paper sent home. 6. Develop a basic yet practical filing/search strategy. Such as student folders on the intranet.
What Students Can Do: -Print single spaced, Write on both sides of the paper, recycle paper What Schools Can Do: -Make recycling easier, buy recycled paper, use alternatives
