Symptoms: -Menstrual irregularities -Learning Disabilities -Delayed Speech -Height above average (most consistant symptom) -Some people with this disease show no symptoms
Triple-X Syndrome
Triple-X syndrome is not inherited from parents, it is developed during production of sex chromosomes which is when a child is young
Caused by nondisjunction during development of reproductive cells which causes an extra copy of the x chromosome to be made.
What it is: -When a female has 3 X chromosomes -occurs in 1 in every 1000 people
Fact:s -People with triple-x phsyically look the same as people without it -People with triple-x are rarely diagnosed -Not considered a disability -5-10 girls a day in Usa born with it
Treatment -A blood test is taken when diagnosed -If the effects are speech issues or psycologiacal issues, they are treated like anyone else with psychological or speech problems. -Not a serious problem, so people just live their normal lives.
The First case of Triple-X syndrome was found in Scotland, in 1959 in a 35-year old woman who had ovarian failure when she was 19
