Biography

Barack Hussein Obama was born on August 4th, 1961. He attended the Harvard school of law and Columbia university. He used to work as a civil rights activist in Chicago. Obama won the election in the 2004 U.S senate after losing in a bid for a seat in the House of Representatives. He gained attention after winning the March 2004 Democratic Primary. He began his run for presidency in February of 2007 and after beating Hillary Clinton in a close presidential primary he won his party's nomination. In 2008, he defeated John McCain and was inaugurated as president on January 20th, 2009.

Historically I beleive Commander -in-cheif used to play a much larger role due to the fact Presidents were the leaders taking charge their nation to war. For example, George Washington was the Commander-in-cheif of his nation and decided much of the war decisions. In addition many presidents became famous because of their war decisions such as FDR and Truman for their WW2 decisions. Since war has a great effect on the economy and politics, commander-in-cheif was a much more important role in historical times, which in result built the presidents legacy. On the other hand some may argue that commander-in-cheif was not a important role in historical times because the Cheif Diplomatic job altered international policies therefore deciding much of the causes to wars.
On a contemporary basis, I beleive that Cheif Diplomat is a influential job. After all, America as a international nation has horrible foriegn policy. Many countries beleive that the U.S fails to form valid and reasonable policies to ensure peace. Furthermore, as world conflicts continue to grow America plays a vital role in establishing peace amongst nations. And since the president is an ambassador who forms alliances and prosperity between nations, it also places much more emphasis on him making a good lasting impression. Also, if the President were to focus more on the cheif diplomat role, he may be the catalyst to changing the world. After all, President Barack Obama did say he wanted "change".
