In this volume Glenda and Zech have their 1st son, Solomon. He learns to ride horses, grow oranges, and drive cattle . But soon later Emma and Tobias both die and the ranch and the workers are left to Zech. All is well until one day when they recieve a wild bull from town. One day its wild and crazy and the next it seems calm, but then runs right over Glenda and kills her. Then a couple years later on the ride back home from a business trip Zech gets drowned but his horse. Solomon was the last MacIvley. Soon after Zech's death he goes and visits his half-brother, Toby. Who came from Zech's and Tawada's indian marrige. Then from there he goes and make many factories, hotels, and banks. About 15 years later he gets really sick and knows that he is about to die, so he wants to go visit Toby before he dies. After his visit with Toby he goes to his old cabin (where he was born) to die. The last sound he heard was a cry of a dove.
