"I look at Hank and he nods and I nod and for a brief second I feel strong. Not strong enough to face myself, but strong enough to keep going."
tao is that which has no name is beyond any sort of name. Failure is an opportunity. demand nothing and give all. live without expectation. there just is, just be. when you realize you have all you need, the world belongs to you. care about other peoples thoughts, and you'll always be their prisoner. practice just being, everything will fall into place. Act without doing, work wothout effort, think of the large as small and the many as few. Don't seek and don't expect. let others go, let them be.
A Million Little Pieces was an autobiography about James' recovery and obstacles dealing with his addictions, or struggles you could say considering James doesn't believe in addiction. Through his six months in rehab, their number one guideline in recovery is faith, in which he doesn't have too much of. He learns to gain from his problems simply from the eyes of his new friends, a book given to him about Taoism, and the help of Lilly, the girl he fell in love with. He has only two options, get better and past his struggles or die. In the end, it all comes together for James, and he uses all he's learned in rehab, out in the real world.
These are some of the quotes written in simplier more standard form that James read in his Taoism book that he learned from and in which helped passed the time away.
When James was released from rehab, he used all the knowledge and the things he learned to follow by in the real world. Until this day, he is still sober and remains "recovered". As for the friends and love of his life, they weren't so lucky. They all died from some reasoning of their struggles or addictions.
