Currently, Alizee owns her own copyright, meaning she can make the kind of music she wishes.
In her youth, Alizee Jocotey was artistic, and her parents enrolled her in dancing classes and singing classes. She won a coloring contest for an airline company. Her entry was featured on the side of a commercial airplane, which was named after her. She entered the TV talent show, ''Graines de Star'' as a singer, because the dance competition was groups only. She ended up taking home the ''Meilleure Graine'' award, for being the most promising young singer there.

French pop diva Mylne Farmer saw Alizee's performance, and saw potential, so helped her get started in the pop industry, even going so far as to write the music for her debut single, ''Moi Lolita.'' It was phenominally successful, bringing Alizee worldwide fame almost overnight. In France alone, it sold over one and a half million copies. They soon started work on Alizee's first album, ''Gourmandises,'' which means ''Goodies.''
Alizee married Jeremy Chatelain, a French singer, in 2003. They now have a little girl named Anny-Lee who is around three years old.
