The Epic Hero In Odysseus: Odysseus shows hes an epic hero in the story of the Sirens when he puts the wax over the ears if his men he they can't be taunted by the Sirens song. Odysseus listened to the deadly song of the Sirens having to fight the agonising pain of not getting the chance to be sent free to the welcoming song. From Odysseus resisting temptation, he kept himself and his men safe from death.
THE SIRENS PLOT After leaveing the land of the dead the island of the Sirens had to be passed. The Sirens, who were irresistible women, attracted sailors witht her beautiful songs and the sailors would then get caught in the reefs surounding the island. Which left many ships to be wrecked. Because of this Odysseus had to fill the ears of his crew with was and have them tie him to the mast of the ship. Odysseus struggled and wanted to go towards the sound but his men could not hear the song. They made it through unharmed.
