Island Hopping- A counter- offensive strike establising a line of overlapping bases as well as air control. They wanted to capture key islands, one after another until they got to Japan
The Island Hopping Campagin or some called it the Pacific War was 78 attacks that the U.S. waged on Japan. The first being the attack at Guadalcanal and the last at Saraguni Bay. These attacks lwould last for about 3 years.
Soon after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor,American Forces started their island hopping campaign. on the mourning of August 7th, 1942. During the last weeks of 1942 and during the first weeks of 1943 the amercians strenghtened there foothold and constructed landing strips.
During the push to take the Gilbert Island, america easly captured Makin, but Tawara was different. It was heavily defended, but thanks to the flamethrower and well exucutated plan the amercians prevailed.
